The Dow dropped more than 1,250 points and the S&P 500 dropped 4.3% on Tuesday. Traders are bracing for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates even more following Tuesday’s hotter-than-expected inflation report.

While the steep sell-off didn’t wipe out the market’s gains over the past four days, it ended a four-day winning streak for the major U.S. indexes and erased European markets’ early gains.
